Project |01 Shiro
Resto - Bar, Bangalore

“SHIRO", which in Japanese means “castle” , serving pan - Asian cuisine . The 4000 sft of space is primarily divided into 2 zones- indoor which is  fine dining and outdoor which is bar area . The entrance to this lounge is through a stairway .

The underside of this stairway is treated with bamboo. All the walls and floors are clad in a monochromatic rough beige Andhra slate stone.

Multiple niches within the exterior walls in different shapes and sizes house statues, busts, Buddha heads and eclectic objects. Wall friezes in strategic locations blend seamlessly with the stone.

The most exciting aspect of Shiro’s design was the degree of customization we were able to achieve. Customization of furniture, objects, light fixtures, and accessories that were all made locally and specifically for the monumental scale of the space. We hired a team of 10 talented young sculptors in Mumbai to create the larger than life sculpture and friezes.

Project |02 LAP
Nightclub, New Delhi

LAP is Delhi’s premier members-only club owned by one of India’s top celebrities and Bollywood start – Arjun Rampal. It spreads over 17,000 sft area .Art Deco is the theme adopted for the club’s interiors.

The nightclub has been divided into two clear spaces – The indoor area and the garden area.

The Indoor area has a grand circular entrance made from alternate velvet recessed padding on the walls complementing it with small led lights. This space also has a dome  ceiling having the same motif which has been repeated in the rest of the interior space .This dome ceiling motif was custom made for the space using fiber glass reinforced plastic, making it look like stone and heavy  but very light in weight. A large crystal Swarovski chandelier is suspended at the center of this indoor area. The walls are treated with metallic finish shimmer plaster and wooden flooring adds drama to the space. The furniture carries the art deco theme and the upholstery used is combination of velvet and leather.

The bar counter has a high gloss a curved table, reflecting light back into the space. The backdrop of the bar counter is cladded with locally available stone rubble masonry . This wall on either side is flanked by laser cut metal in the form of a tree. As the client wanted to display his collection of old Indian paintings, one such piece is displayed as a backdrop to the bar counter.

Project |03 Cliff House
Sea side vacation bungalow

Perched 200 ft. above an expansive stretch of green along the Arabian Sea coast, at the edge of a cliff, its most prominent feature is an asymmetrical sloping roof set against the fronds of a coconut plantation.

Opening its embrace to the warm sea breezes, the home covers an area of 1397 sqm. A skewed 45m long sheer concrete wall supporting the single lightweight triangulated canopy roof lunges out towards the view. The external and internal finishes are polished cement, concrete and rough slate juxtaposed against warm slatted timber and natural local kota stone.

Furniture and accessories are kept to a minimal, so that the focus doesn’t stray from the natural environment. The client lives in London and commissioned the house as a holiday home to enjoy the Kerala sun, the views, and requested for a large outdoor pool, several decks and meditation areas.
